Tenacity in the Face of Adversity

As soon as he came to power, Laurier made decisions based on his vision of the country. He wanted Canada to establish its position with the provinces and with the rest of the world.  Although Laurier was a man of compromise, not everyone in the country agreed with him. On many occasions, he had to justify his position, defend his point of view against opponents and explain his vision to the members of his party. His time in power in Ottawa was marked by adversity and tenacity.
